Aluminium 2024 (2024A) is one of the most popular high strength Aluminium alloys when it is the heat treated condition. Due to 2024 (2024A) high strength and excellent fatigue resistance,it is used to advantage on structures and parts where good strength-to-weight ratio is desired. It is readily machined to a high finish. It is readily formed in the annealed condition and may be subsequently heat treated. Arc or gas welding is generally not recommended, although this alloy may be spot, seam or flash welded, it is commonly used on structures and components in the aircraft and transportation industries.
2024 Aluminum plate has several applications including truck and aircraft wheels, truck suspension parts, and is useful in aircraft fuselage components. 2024 Aluminum Plate does have limited weldability, however 2024 Aluminum plate is less corrosion resistant than other alloys.
